    Unhappy Please Help!

I am at my wits end!!! I have been trying to settle Noah since 6pm and it isn't working. The only time he stops crying is when he is in my arms. His cheeks have been rosy for the last few days but I don't see any white spots on the flat part of his gums, only along the front. His breathing is rattly but it sounds more of a nasally or throaty rattle. Maybe it is a wonder week? There is no temp either, I can't think of anything else. I can't get anything done holding on to him all night and I am about to snap. Juz is doing his best but Noah doesn't settle for him like he will for me. I just feel like I am being spread thin. Any suggestions?

Sarah, it's hard to know what it is, but I sure feel for you. We have those nights every now and then - in fact Tom's been like that for the last couple of nights, then has settled eventually only to start again at 4:30 ish. It could definitely be teething - the grizzling usually starts a few days before the teeth appear. Or he could be sick. I usually find too that he settles best for me, so if you can stick it out, he should get tired enough to sleep eventually. I would give him some teething relief - something cold on his gums and if you have it, the Brauers teething relief. Or if not, and nothing else is settling him, maybe some panadol. Then as soon as he's down, go to bed and sleep. If you are already just too worn out, leave him with DH with those things to try and go and rest. He will settle eventually and this could last a couple of days so get what rest you can and take good care of yourself. You are doing a great job and this too shall pass!

I have the exact same thing with Jacob this week!! I had the biggest melt down I have ever had yesterday....... and the only thing I can do is count to 10 and pray for patience!!!
Its just sooo damn hard sometimes isnt it!.......
All i could do is give him cuddles... do all the things I can think of that I think might settle him... bath, bottle, plays in the toy corner together, laying on the couch...............
If I count all the times I have counted to 10 this week I think i might be up to a million!!!!!! :P

    Good luck sweetheart.....

Thanks girls, I have him asleep atm, he is laying on the sofa beside me after falling asleep in my arms. I really hope it isn't teething but for the last 2 weeks he is more chewy than sucky. This behavior of his has been going on for a few days which is why I am at the end of my patience. I feel so guilty for being so angry with him when I am so lucky to have him. I hope tonight goes smoothly though, he already wakes up 2 or 3 times a night as it is It helps knowing I am not the only one.....

    Now 1............2.........3.............4............ .

    Hi Sarah
I feel for you hun. Sometimes it can be very hard to know what your baby wants or needs. Try to hang in there, this will pass. Sleep when your baby is sleeping and if you feel like it just stay in yout PJ's all day.

Thanks Alan! It is very hard indeed.

Here I am up at 12:30am not able to settle him again. I just told Juz I would sleep on the couch so he can get rest before tomorrow. I need to make an appt with a dr to get my pap done and I might get Noah checked up on as well. I wanted to get his willy looked at anyway as it seems he may have had a dodgy circ job done. I hope it isn't an infection that could be making him so unsettled. I would think there would be a fever if there was though. He seems to be farting like a trooper too hmmmm the mind goes wild with every possibility................

Sarah if ever his nose is blocked it could be upsetting him, so try "Fess Little Noses" saline drops. It is non-medical and works a treat (if you can get the drops in their nose!)

Hi Sarah, I hope that everything's going a bit better for you today, and that you managed to get some rest.

Thanks Kirst, I am hanging out for another 30 mins when fingers crossed he will want a nap

Roryrory, I think I might get those drops, He doesn't have a problem with me picking his nose so I shouldn't have a prob with the drops..

Tan, I am just coping Latte heaven here!!!

He went to sleep at 1:30am and woke up 3 times between then and 6am, then slept until just before 10. He is a little happier today but still not himself, it definitly is worse at night time. I looked at his gums today and on the bottom ones those teeth on either side of the middle ones are the ones that look like they are making an appearance very shortly, the center ones I can only see from the front of the gum, not the top. Teeth scare me :S

My friend was having a similar prob with her baby we new she was teething she had a runny nose and red cheeks and fingers in the mouth but she tried everything and she wouldnt settle so my friend took her to the doctor and she ended up having an ear infection as well as teething.
