this is probably not going to make much sense.... as i've had 2 hours sleep in 24hours....
Our 7mo has been getting worse and worse night sleeps. he WAS starting to sleep through (mostl 5-6 stints , but sometimes ALL night - 7pm-6am!!) ... but he's getting worse and worse. not wanting to go to sleep, hard to get to sleep, and last night, slept 10pm-12am and then on my shoulder from 1am til 2am, then no sleep until 5.30am! then he slept til 8.30am!!!!!
he woke up bright as a spark, but last night he would not even go to sleep in my arms. screaming his head off. took him for a drive at 4am and he snoozed, but second i got him out and in his cot... screaming again.
HELP HELP HELP.
I spoke to CYH and they said that he's fallen so in love with me he wants me to be around ALL the time. but even sleeping with me he opens his eyes all the time, wriggling and getting grizzly and he's TIRED. (not to mention so am I).
He's well and not sick..... no temp, no sign of teeth - although dribbles a bit and pink cheeks sometimes.... i give him bonjella and panadol OR nurofen... but i don't 'dose him up' on it.
He eats solids now and loves them and is bottle fed.
Please help! I do wrap him but he gets out before i even put him down..... ummmm i hope this makes sense.
going hunting for no-doz now so i can at least function!
hmmm its a hard one, they always surprise us.
My first thought is that maybe he is coming down with something but hasn't shown other signs yet. DD first sign is always crap sleep.
Anything changed with his sleeping environment?
How do you usually try to settle him? Do you do what you've always done?
Will he take a bottle and settle?
Sorry to hear you aren't getting much sleep. Neither am I and my little girl is 10mths.... she started going 'off' her sleep around the same age as your DS! She used to sleep really well at one stage like 7 to 7 only waking once or twice and now she is only sleeping 2-3 hr blocks at a time.... feeding alot too in the night (she's BF).
Teething has something to do with it I know that, well in our DD's case.... but yeah her sleep went funny around 7mths and has been even til now.... I'm STILL waiting for her to settle down again into some sort of routine!
Sorry not much help.... just go with it as best you can..... we've started co-sleeping just so we can all get more sleep.
These babies like to surprise us don't they?! Just when we think they are getting predictable, they change on us!
nothing has changed in his routine at all - he's just 'decided' that he wants to go to bed later. Last night was much better... I'd spoken to my Mother and MIL and came up with a plan of attack... gave him some brauer natural colic relief as he was a very colicky newborn (MIL said it could be that as new foods etc) ... also some nurofen (if it's teething).
My mum also suggested a 'comfort toy' ... and said when he's at their house they have this really soft rug that has satin around the sides that he rubs on his face (he likes the feel of fabric on his face) so bought a teddy/ rug thing at best and less that has he satin side and put that up to his face while putting him to sleep.
He woke at 2.30am for a feed (bed at 9) and slept with me for the rest of the night (this is usual). amazingly this even used to make me a bit tired but after the other night i feel soooooo sprightly! haha.
Yes babies seem to like to change the routine. i'm happy to go with it, but the other night was seriously almost the end of me. Even DP felt ill yesterday as he was woken by the screams.
DS is still asleep so once up going to check for toofy pegs - yesterday the top ones looked white (as if you can see the teeth in the gums) - well that's what MIL said anyway.
thanks as always ladies - it's heartening to know in the middle of the night that there are many more wonderful ladies doing the same thing
