Hopefully it is just a stage honey. I know Ash's sleep became a nightmare in the lead up to him starting to crawl, and it took a week or two after he worked it out for him to start sleeping a bit better.

He's still having 3 sleeps a day most of the time, but they are quite short. He's usually up at 6am (your 8am sounds divine!) and then goes back down at about 8.30am, but will only sleep for 30mins. Then he's up till about 12pm when he might sleep for close to 1.5 hours. Then he usually has another 30 min nap at around 3.30pm or 4pm. I would love to get him down to two decent naps a day, but he gets really tired quite quickly first thing in the morning.

Sorry I'm going off on a bit of a tangent here, but I can't believe how their body clocks work. Ash wakes up at 6am every morning without fail. It doesn't matter what time he got bed, or if he's woken up for a feed overnight, and it's still dark out now so it can't be the sun coming up either...
