please tell me last night was just a blip...

DD is 7 weeks old today. The last few nights I really thought we were cracking the sleeping-through thing. She slept from10.30-3.30, then the next night from 11-4, then the next night from 11-5.

But last night, she was awake at 11.30, 2, 4, 5.30, 7.30 and 8.30. And so was I.

Do you think this was just a bad night and she'll go back to nearly sleeping through? Or have we lost it before we got it really working?

I'm like a zombie this morning...

Hi Tenar, sounds like a growth spurt to me. From memory there's meant to be a big growth spurt around 8weeks. I remember DS2 started his 8week growth spurt around 7ish weeks and he was fussy and waking up throughout the night for about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I remember the 8 week growth spurt and the 3month growth spurt were the hardest and longest
Hange in there, its yuck when they're restless isn't it? Its amazing what lack of sleep can do to a person. Good news is it will get better in a week or so if it is a growth spurt and then you'll be ready to tackle the next challenge I know It seems like just when you think you've figured bub out they go and change! Ahhh the joys of parenthood. Big to you. The first 6months are the hardest and then it does get better and you kind of fall into a routine. Hope tonight is better for you .

Your bub sounds so normal- if there is such a thing. They will lull you into a false sense and then change! Babies can sleep through for a few weeks then change and wake as yours is doing and this may go one for days/weeks then change again. No matter what she does she will change her sleep habits quite constantly. 8 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, 8 months etc are all common times for sleep to alter its patterns. For some chn it goes on changing for some time- for my DD it was about 10 months although as time progresses there are longer periods of the same sleep patterns. It is very common what your DD is doing!
