yes i have heard the same thing, "put baby awake in the cot". well my DD never went into a cot, disliked it. also she co-slept and was cuddled at every sleep until 9.5months. then she went into her own bed at 9.5months and is still cuddled before bed. until she is asleep and i put her down into bed.

but guess what? she sleeps through most nights and self settles. i was never up for controlled crying. but i don't think i set any bad habits because her sleeping from 7pm until 5.30-6.00am every morning suits us fine!
