    Default Reaction to pumpkin??

Kaitlyn has developed a raised red rash on her back , shoulders and also on the back of one leg. I took her to the Drs this morning and the rash on her back was basically gone so he said it was heat rash . Then tonight just before bed after her bottle , pumkin and bath it was back and BIGGER then ever!.

It looks like tiny red raised pimples with some patches kinds thing ..where you cant see the pimple it is just like a red dryish looking patch.

I am thinking maybe it is a reaction to solids as this is only her third day of Pumpkin and only her 7th day of solids of any type.

Any help would be appreciated as I am a little worred

yuck don't you just hate rashes.

if you suspect there is a problem with the pumpkin then don't feed her that anymore (maybe try something like apple, pear or rice cereal) when the rash goes then try the pumpkin again and see what happens.

my ds had heaps of allergies as a bubs and got exema etc (thankfully at 5 1/2yrs he has grown out of most) and this is what his allergy specialist advised me to do so you can elimnate the problem foods.

although i didn't think pumpkin could cause much of a problem, my dd started solids at nearly 6mths and she reacted to potato and also sweet corn - she is 16mths old now and there is no reaction to the foods.

it could well be just a heat rash especially if you noticed it after the bath it looked worse - dd has a rash around the back of her neck atm from the heat.

good luck at finding the cause.

I think that it might be best to drop the pumpkin for the time being and maybe try some rice cereal instead. Another otion might be to delay introducing solids for a while. Yasin had a big vomit after his third meal of solids so we stopped them and reintroduced them a month later and he dealt with them much better the second time around.

    Thanks Michelle and Dachlostar.

Before I went to bed last night I popped in and checked and the rash had gone down a little. It really seems to flare up after the bath so I might just bath and moisturise her with Sorbelene tonight rather then the Johnsons and Johnsons products.

I took her to her Dr today and he said she just has sensitive skin which is reacting to something and to continue on as normal :-k . I think instead I will try and help it clear up and work out what it is so it does not happen again .

I am just glad it is not a virus or anything worse!.
