    Question Scratching face remedies?

My DS has been diagnosed with dermatitis. We seem to get his skin looking nice - not red, scaly or scratched and then he starts scratching his face again and we have to start all over again. His face is clear for no more than 1 1/2 days a fortnight And this has been going on since about 4months old - so 2 months so far

We have tried using mittens on his hands to stop the nails scratching his face but he still rubs it and gets it very red and fragile. We have the steroid creams that the GP prescribed (we have to have a break for a couple of days a fortnight from it) that doesn't seem to help clear it up much and we using QV stuff in the bath; currently trying MooGoo psoriasis and eczema balm and that seems to be helping a bit but I can't use it on the days DS goes to childcare (nut free zone and MooGoo uses almond oil). I've also taken DS to a chiro/naturopath and so far not much success there - another fortnight and we'll see if anything has changed for the better.

We're off to see his GP next week for his 6mth check up and I'm not sure what to say about it - as the steroid creams haven't done much

Soooooo, I'm after some suggestions: what can I do to try and discourage DS scratching his face. He does it more often when he's tired (and at the moment fights sleep something shocking ) but also does it at other times. (he also scratches his tummy but no where near as often as his face and his shirt usually gets in the way)

It must be tricky when the scratching is habitual. DD1 had fairly mild eczema on her chest as a little kid. I found the steroid creams did clear the worst of it up, and we used Moogoo and QV balm to hold it at bay. But hers was on her chest and therefore I could cover it up! Very hard when it's on his face! I'm sorry but I don't have any suggestions for you as it sounds like you have tried everything I'd suggest. Just wanted to sympathise and hope that you see some positive results of your current treatment soon.
