DD1 is 21 months old and still in her cot because she is so hard to settle in her toddler bed at any time and I dont have the patience!! She sleeps during the day from 1pm til about 330pm and goes down at 8pm most nights....takes a while to get to sleep and sleeps til about 7am.
DD2 is nearly 8 weeks and is in a bassinett in our room. She sleeps alot...but overnight generally she will have a feed around 1030, awake around 230 for a feed then again about 630ish.
I am considering moving her bassinett into the other bedroom with her sister. Do you think its a good idea? Or should I be waiting til dd2 sleeps right through? Or until we can get dd1 into her toddler bed (if that ever happens)
The girls have to share coz its the only other bedroom we have, so I am thinking I should do it sooner rather than later....
for me it would depend on if DD2 will wake DD1 when she has her 230am feed.
if she was going to wake up DD1 then I would be waiting til she was sleeping through.
We moved Jovie into a room with Matilda when she was 9 months old. What we did was put Jovie to bed there, and then Matilda later. When Jovie woke up she would come into our bed, sometimes it was 1am etc... but at least we had a few hours by ourselves first Thats the way it still works, the girls share a room but if one wakes up they come into our room for a cuddle or whatever and generally go back to sleep in our bed. We have a spare mattress on the ground if they need it.
Maybe give it a try for a few nights and see what happens?
my friend from MG just tried it with her two the other night - oldest is just 2, youngest is 4 months. They went brilliantly!
The worst that can happen is that they wake each other up and you bring DD2 back to your room, right?
We moved Julia to her big bed first and when she got used to it a few days later moved Tara out of her. bassinet into the cot to sleep in the same room. Tara was 4 months old, Julia is 2 1/2. They go really well together, we made sure that Tara was sleeping through the night first as she used to wake up when Tara was waking for her night feeds even though Tara was in our room.

Thats the way it still works, the girls share a room but if one wakes up they come into our room for a cuddle or whatever and generally go back to sleep in our bed. We have a spare mattress on the ground if they need it.
