That's great! My DS was the same weight as your little one at 6 months and no one was ever concerned about it. The MCHN nurse just said he was just a little bub (still is) and most certainly never saw a paed about it. Very interesting.

Skybie & allycat - thats weird. The MCHN nurse was making us go in every week for her to be weighed, then she had to see the GP and then he sent her to the paed. He thinks she is okay, just little but she has to go back again in July. It been very stressful. Maybe its because she had a high birth weight 9lbs1oz What was your babies birth weights?

Kim - Hi Maybe my mchn and doctor over-reacted, I don't know. You are the 4th reply with a 6 month old weighing 6kgs. Maybe it common .

DD2 was 7 pound 8(3550) at birth, but she was 4 weeks early, so she did have a high birth weight for her gestation

Yowie DS was 6lb 13oz, he was full term. I'm a tiny thing and DH is tall and skinny. DS has always hovered around the 10th percentile for height and weight and I too got quite concerned but the MCHN told me it's nothing to worry about as long as the height and weight match up. It would only be an issue if he was in the 10th percentile for weight and say the 90th for height. That being said my MIL told me DH was always way off the charts for height (very tall) and near the bottom for weight, he's always been slightly built. So who knows!

Perhaps as your DD was born quite big her weight plateaued out a bit earlier than some. Are you and your hubby small people? I find it odd that your MCHN was so concerned...6kg at 6 months is still like the 3rd percentile, I thought they'd only get worried if they drop off the chart completely. What's she like lengthwise? It sounds like she is perfectly healthy and doing just great Standing up and cruising around furniture at 6 months is awesome!!
