Yep definitely agree there Tinks. Especially with her hips, it's important she has well supported feet. We were planning on going to Clarks tomorrow or next week for a fitting. Once she's fitted, does that mean we can go from that size/fit and find our own shoes for her from other stores? I was thinking one pair of good expensive shoes per size, the rest cheaper (but not rubbish) shows that she can knock about in in the yard and stuff.
PZ, can't really help with what shoes but just wanted to let you know that our DS changed between 2 different shoe sizes between 15 and 17 months. (I thought I was going crazy). I have found that different company's have different sizes, same as clothes. Some offer more space and some are smaller.
I have always bought clarks or other well fitted shoes.. Personally I have found the cheaper shoes don't last the distance with my kids, and I i don't always get the correct fit.
I normally get both kids fitted twice a year (once for summer shoes, and once for winter), and obviously if they need it in between. We normally have one pair of shoes that they wear all the time, and plastic shoes and gumboots for playing in the garden.
I have gotten all of my kids soft-soled leather shoes when they're that little, until they're about 18mths-2yrs old. Cheeky little soles and skeanie are the ones I have brought. They're good quality leather shoes. They can be a little expensive, but worth it, and they have lasted the distance for us.
As for sizing, I have found the sizes can vary wildly between stores/brands, so you would need to check sizes where ever you buy her shoes.
Get one pair of well fitted sturdy versatile shoes, and nothing else. They grow out of them so quickly. My DD has a pair of black Maryjanes, they go with everything, and she's always well supported.
