Shoes

Maria is nearly 19months old and now is refusing to wear shoes, she really loved a pair she has just grown out of and I cannot find a similar pair anywhere. Hope this is just a stubborn phase that she grows out of before childcare next week. Where do you buy shoes from, ie expensive shops or the cheaper department stores.

For Milo's first pair of shoes, I had him fitted at the shoe store, so they were not cheap (about $60) but I really wanted to make sure he was in the right size (he was).

Now that I know I can tell his size correctly, I buy them wherever, but I tend to spend a bit more for well made, well fitting shoes that are good for his feet.

i always buy my kids proper shoes and get them fitted each time - i am a big believer in looking after your feet - as they hold you up, plus the bones in their feet are so soft.

my dd had a pair of clarks pre walker shoes, then when it came time to get a proper pair (she was around the same age as your dd) omg did she have a hissy fit, she wouldn't walk and all she wanted was her old shoes back, i told her that the shoes didn't fit anymore and she had a nice new pair of sandles with flowers (i then hid the old shoes out of sight) it took a few days, maybe a week but eventually she got used to the new ones and i don't have any problems now - bar getting her feet measure and stopping her from dancing in the shop when she tries new shoes on (but hey thats another story lol)

Maria refused to have her feet measured, and then when leaving the store refused to get back into the pram, Oh yesterday was not a good day

My partner and I only by shoes for his daughter when she is with us so she can chose them. She's been doing this since she was two. This way we know she will wear them as she shows us what she likes. I'm not sure if your littly will be up to doing that yet, but you never know - its worth a try. We used to buy the expensive branded shoes but found that they wore out as quickly as the cheaper shoes did so now just buy at the chain stores.

i only buy shoes from a kids shoe shop .. my DD has an E width shoe.. so need to buy Clarks or Osh Kosh.. I try and get them on sale.. try Betts kids or SHoes & Sox.. they have specialists who are used to dealing with upset little toddlers.. good luck.. also check your child care policy do they need to were a hard soled shoe or can they were a softer slipper.. maybe a softer shoe might be easier for her

I bought cheaper shoes befoer they were walking and as soon as they could, proper fitted leather shoes. I really want some thongs for the kids to wear but Mum wouldn't let me! She said they need more support and the lady in Myer agreed with her

Maria is only a size 4 so I have been lucky so far, only 1 size grown since she started walking at Christmas.

OH my gosh Brooke ..kaitlyn is a size 7 now!!!!!!! our big foot bubbas hey :-)

Louise I get Kaitlyns shoes from a proper shoe shop so usually bay $40-60.00. I have just found they fit better and last longer. As she is in shoes all day 3days a week at daycare I really like her having good shoes. Having her measured and fitted is also a struggle - perhaps buy two pairs at once to limit the stress on you, Maria and the shopkeeper :-)

There is actually a really good one at Bondi Westfield I go to ..near the food court. I have found the girls really good there ( still make the trip after the move to that shop hehe)
