Sick 6 month old...HELP!

Hi,
Emily has gastro (and has kindly passed it onto me!) anyway, she was vomiting on thursday but now seems to have the very runny poos (we've gone through 3 outfits today alone, and she's never pooed like that) My question is, what do i give her??? Feed her as normal or give more water...etc??

Eleanor was like this last weekend. I kept giving her formula as she is formula feed. I did read to keep giving them milk and not to worry to much about solids unless they want it. She still is having runny poos that come out of the nappies. Someone told me to try some De-lact formula for a week to get her back to normal. Which i have started to do today.

You can continue to feed them milk unless they are vomitting, just try and bulk her with fluids( water or hydrolite.)
If she is on solids and has been for awhile maybe some rice..the little rice with her vegies. Just plain and unfortunatley ride out the storm.

Lexie had gastro last week. I avoided milk for 24 hours and gave her warm Gastrolyte instead. And for solids I offered her grated apple (apparently the pectin helps firm up their poos!) and also offered pureed apple mixed with baby rice creal (which is full of iron and tends to firm up their poos).

All the above worked a treat: it kept her happy and fed and hydrated, and minimised the poo/vomit explosions..........

I've been taking the hydrolytes and read on the box that she can also have them, one every 60 minutes and it says if the poo's persists for more than 6 hours on these to seek medical advice. I didnt think she'd be able to have them but thank god she can, poor little nut.
Lucy - my mum said the same thing - no milk as this feeds the bug.

DS had gastro at 6/7 months too.

The parent helpline suggesting putting DS on formula with no lactose and not giving him such big feeds but more often. Eg: instead of four feeds of 240ml he got 8 feeds of 120ml with drinks of water as well.

It would go in one end and come out the other - looking the same as when it went in.

He was generally happy in himself though and quite happy to projectile vomit and poop in his nappy.

He got over it within three days.

He passed it on to my DH who didn't take it quite as well as DS. In fact DS was a star in comparison. But, I suppose adults aren't as happy to puke as babies. It's just a given with babies.

The most important thing is hydration. If they're not hydrated enough I'd be going to the hospital.
