    I suppose you could insist that she keeps him until the sugar high wears off.

    Actually that was a rule I had - if you stir my kids up, YOU cool them down again. Worked for me

    That's what I say too

    Maybe if you remind her that she probably wouldn't have liked it if someone undermined her when her child was little. I understand the cutting off your nose to spite your face thing too cos I have the same issue

    I would be stern as well, your child your rules, though somedays, actually most days I would love for someone to take at least one of my children for a couple of hours.

    I was at a friend's going away BBQ last week. Let's just say that the crowd was 'different' to the sort of people I - or anyone I know - tends to hang around.

    Two small children (no more than 2 at the oldest, neither could really talk) came in to the living room with bottles full of coke, curled up on the couch and drank their bottles. I was in such utter shock DH had to usher me outside.

    At the same party, the kids were lining up to play 'gambling' with the old pokies machine the family had in the garage...
