    Sitting in a shopping trolley?

    Hey guys,

When was your little one ready to sit in a shopping trolley? IF you do this at all?

DD can sit up unassisted and rarely falls over these days - her balance is pretty good. Do you think she's ready?

Oh and where do you get those really cool seat covers for the shopping trolley? I see loads of people with them but never see them in the shops or anything!

    Thanks in advance
    Sue xx

I would say she is ready now hun

I have a trolley cover by No More Nasties. DD just loves it, she is such a poser when we do the grocery shopping! It has nice bright colours, has its own seat belt so you dont have to use the grotty trolley one, and it covers all parts of the trolley your DD could touch so she wont touch any germs. Can also attach toys to it, and has a pocket for anything you want to store in it.

Mine were both around 5 months. They were much happier sitting upright. I didn't have a trolley cover thing, but neither of them got sick from trolley rides

Cool! Thanks everyone. DH and I usually do the groceries together on a saturday morning but this week DD and I are going to do it on thursday because saturday is xmas day - I just didn't want to be juggling the pram or sling and a shopping trolley!

    Thanks xxxxx

I agree- sounds like your DD is ready. Both my DS's were about 6 or 7 months I think- just when they were able to sit properly.

We got our seat cover at Big W- was about $40- ours had a little pillow and lots of attachment toys- it converts to a little playmat (not that we've used it for a playmat- cause they were to active to want to sit still on it by the time we got it).

I used it all the time with DS1, but these days with 2 of them I seem to always forget to take it- by the time I get us ready, pack nappy bags for 2, pack snacks, grab them both waters and make our way down to the car- along with my recycle shopping bags- i just don't have enough hands and memory left...lol! Plus now that I've got 2 sitting in the trolley I usually have to try get one of those double sitters- so it wouldn't fit anyway. I wonder if any has designed a double one? Anyone seen one? Or do you just buy 2 bigger ones?

When she could sit up by herself without falling over, probably around 6/7 months. My mum bought her a cover from Big W, I think the brand was Trolley mate. You should be able to get one from a specialty baby shop if you can't find one in Big W/Kmart. There's also the Trolley Monster brand, but they are quite expensive. they have a FB page as well as their website, if you googled they should come up.

ETA: I got my cover for the comfort factor, rather than being worried about germs..I don't think I'd like to sit in one of those seats when you don't have much padding, especially for their back.
