Sleep regression in 11 month old...does it get better?

Apart from the very newborn bit, Peter was always a great sleeper- only up once a night from about the age of 6 weeks and it seemed he was on the way to dropping that feed probably around 5 months. We were stoked, needless to say!

But since the age of about 8 months, his sleeping has just been getting worse and worse. I know this is not a new story and its a really common time for sleep problems- teething, separation anxiety, learning to crawl and stand up etc all make for restless nights. But his sleep just seems to be getting worse and worse and most nights are difficult for some reason.

I never knew they slept better at 3 months than at 10! This is common, right? Can someone please, please tell me it gets better? I feel we're on this downward spiral and I don't know what to do. Should I try some kind of sleep training (not CIO, but other methods), or will he eventually grow out of this? I'm starting to dread nights!

I remember a girlfriend telling me once that her DS slept better as a newborn than he did at 12 months. And it's so true, I remember Nina going through a phase of waking at around 12 months, and Emily seems to be going down that track as well.
No advise though, unfortunately. I just go with the flow. If they wake, I tend to them and try and get them back to sleep. It sucks sometimes, but I got to do it.
Hope it's just a phase he's going through.
