Baby shaking his head

Hi everyone, my 5 month old DS has started shaking his head today, not twitching, just shaking it back and forth occasionally. He does it while he is playing on the floor and he doesn't seem unhappy when he does it, though he is generally pretty cranky atm. He has been pulling at his ear a lot, but I got him checked last week and he didn't appear to have an ear infection. Does anyone know why he would be doing this? I'm not sure if it's from teething or just a developmental thing. Any words of advice would be appreciated!

not sure that I am much help but is he shaking it is one direction - and is it the same side that he is pulling on his ear?

Maybe he has an ear infection but I hadn't had time to develop yet?

its normal Jack went thru this as well as all the babies in our mums group, they discover they can do it and they do it IYKWIM!!!

if you are really concerned get his ears checked again the pulling on ear and crankiness can be teething

Abbey went through a phase like this too. She would sit there and shake her head (violently) as if saying "no". She thought it was the funniest thing in the world and would crack up when she was doing it! She stopped doing after she tried to shake her head whilst walking and smacked her head on the table

Yup, I think it's just one of those things they do. Oskar still does it sometimes, I call him Stevie when he does it. He thinks it's hillarious and quite often has a giggle when he does it. DH thinks it's the equivalent of when kids are a bit older and spin around and around until they fall over. Maybe they like the sensation??
