so tell me what u do....

so i had a dilema today....

empty petrol tank and baby in the car thanks DH for filling my car last night like i asked

SO i want to know how you tackle the petrol station with ur baby...

do you leave ur bub in the car with the window down?
do you take bub with you?

i didnt know what to do, yes bub is 13weeks and ive never faced this issue coz DH usually runs up to the petrol station so i dont have to worry but clearly he decided i didnt need fuel last night....

i dont want this to turn into a debate over whats right or wrong ( knowing full well its a topic that could be debated with some heat to it ) i just want to know how you tackle the situation, thanks!

We take her in with us......it's annoying to the driver behind but if it's just me and her, I won't leave her.

I have been the same as you, I have either asked DH to go fill up my car or I go when I don't have my girls with me. When I have had just one DD with me I take her out with me. If I have both girls then I tend to go to the petrol station that has the card swiper thingy at the bowser and use that so I don't have to get them out of the car.

I fill up and ds isn't there I take them all out

I leave them in the car, sunroof open car locked. Three kids walking around with cars everywhere it's not safe.

I do leave them in the car now (well, when we are in AUS & we have a car!!!). But as babies, I always took them out. Even when Claudia was a newborn & Jess was 2 years old, I still took them out. I only started leaving them in the car prob the last 3 months before we moved to Qingdao.

It really depended on the situation for me.

DS/DD being settled/asleep, car out of the sun, not busy so it would be quick then yes I would leave them in the car, as long as I was only going to be gone for 60-90 seconds I also would leave the windows up due to fumes, etc.

Other than that I would take them with me.

I leave DD in her carseat with her drink and the window down, the most ive ever had to wait in line to pay was 3 minutes probably. I can't help but watch her while im inside, and I always lock my car before leaving her.

i didnt even consider the fume side of things

thank you all for you replies, i guess its just another one of those personal choice things i think i feel guilty about leaving her there, BUT then i feel guilty about pulling her in and out of the car too cant bl00dy win!

I leave them in the car.
I used to use the pay at the pump but for some reason they seem to be phasing that out.

I leave DD in the car with the window open - not all the way down - car locked and I always will use a pump under cover so she is not is the sun. I always try and find a petrol station that is not busy so 99% of the time it is just me in the store to pay for the petrol, then I would only be away from the car for a limited amount of time.

Leave in car, car locked windows shut, unless was a super hot day, normally am in and out in less than two mins. If can see is a queue then would take in, but normally isn't - I try to do when on my own but not always possible. To be honest until moved to Australia would never have dreamed of taking in with me, we certainly never were as kids - and is only the overheating aspect in Melbourne that would be rare anyway I see as a more dangerous option than crossing forecourt. The smell of petrol makes me feel sick so I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving windows open and as car has air con even though is off when filling, opening window would in 2 to 3 mins have more of a warming than cooling effect.

Apart from heating what are the other dangers if children are strapped in?

Nope, but whatever you choose it will be right for your family don't beat yourself up over it, play it by ear when the time comes.

I rarely have to put fuel in the car but the times I have, I've left Moo in the car. Windows up, doors locked, undercover. This is probably the only place I would leave him in the car, we're right by the door & I can see him through the windows. That being said, I wouldn't do it on particular days such as really hot ones.

I usually have someone with me (mum or dh) and they sit in the car.. otherwise I will just lock the doors and be in and out really quick!
