Reading your post, I don't think she cried so much she made herself sick. I think she wasn't going to sleep because she was sick and she threw up in the night - when she's better I think she'll go off on her own again. Til then, all you can do is love her to sleep. DS goes through phases where he will selfsettle, need someone in the room, need patting - or whenn he is ill, like last night, not go to sleep until 5am. At least it is short-term!
My DD won't go to sleep on her own anymore either. My DS was the same, couldn't let him cry for even 1 or 2 minutes or he would vomit.
