Question Suggestions to getting her to sleep a little longer

DD was sleeping from 7.30pm - 6.30am with just the one bottle (about 300ml). The last week she has started waking at 5.30am and wanting another bottle. It's driving me nuts as she then wakes at 6.30 and has breakfast about 7.
Does anyone have suggstions on getting her to sleep that bit longer in the morning and not need that bottle? Or is this just a phase???

Jenni, 10 months is a classic time for BAD SLEEP of all kinds of varieties. Its tough! DS did this early waking thing for a while and I despaired of ever sleeping beyond 5:30 again. It was a very grim prospect! But it has gotten better over time- I think its something they just go through.

But we tried a few things to get through it. I tried going in and giving him his dummy and some toys to keep him occupied- that worked for a few days. I tried bringing him into bed with me- that didn't work, just ended up getting slapped in the face with cold little hands! I think the most successful thing was just to give in and give a (very) small bottle- we actually ended up just giving it to DS to feed himself in his cot. We could then get another hours worth of sleep!

Well that's a relief to hear.... cause I don't think I can cope with this much longer! that it gets better soon.... for all of us. And I hear you on bringing them into bed. DD is like a cat in a sack... and not a happy cat!

It DOES get better. It just seems like around 8-10 months, they start to learn to crawl, they stand up in their cot, they get separation anxiety, those horrible front teeth are coming through....all this stuff is happening and it makes sleep a nightmare.

It really does get better, although it seemed to happen gradually for us.

LOL at the 'unhappy cat in a sack' analogy- its very apt. I have been kicked, hair pulled, slapped, stepped on, crawled over and slobbered on enough to be very wary of pulling DS into our bed in the morning!

I remember that being a bad time also. And at the moment it's not much better - DS1 who is 4 now seems to wake at 5:30 most mornings even though it is still dark.

About the only tip I can offer is to try and get to bed earlier. I think I need to take my own advice

    what i can suggest is
    make some noise

don't give your child the silent treatment . Amazingly the sounds they heard 24/7 in the uterus were about twice as loud as a vacuum cleaner , so babies love and need strong rhythmic noise you can use a white noise sounds CD.........this might help and they sleeps for long
