Magnadoodle was my first thought too! There's some pretty funky ones out there.. colour ones even I think!

But then I read your post and you want something cuddly .... I dunno. My kids will take any new toy to sleep with them whether it's cuddly or not heheh...

Trying to think what my DD loves playing with at the moment.. she loves stickers.. but that can get messy.. she loves her tea set.. a pad of paper and a couple of stamps would keep her amused for hours lol.. she loves books.. maybe a book with moving parts (tough enough to withstand a 20mth old hehe) .. DS's cash register is a big hit, or a telephone.

I dunno.. hope those help a bit.

And all the best for the operation. Hope it goes smoothly and gives you some answers. *hugs*

I think the doll Brontide suggested sounds perfect, especially for a 1 1/2yr old, and having her being able to cuddle it as well as play and keep amused without throwing it around and hurting herself. Why dont you think about 2 little toys if you are worried about her keeping amused with them. I know V is alot younger but when she was in hospital a few weeks ago, I had a few toys with her and one of those toys was one she enjoys playing with, so maybe think of taking her favourite toy and buy her a new toy too.
May I also ask how much does your DD weigh? On V's discharge letter they also put down that she is failing to thrive. I am interested as now V is seeing a dietician, was supposed to go today, but both V and I are not well so had to cancel for next week. Is that what they had you do first, before these operations? I am so sorry your little one is going thru this. Hugs

All these suggestions are great, and I took a mixture of them to hossy for Kane.

His absolut fave though was a version of the glow worm. He was sooky, and wanted to cuddle, but have a toy too. He could cuddle it, it would light up, and play soft bubba music. He LOVED it, and wouldn't let it go. He still soothes himself with it now!!

Yael, I was just trying to think of something for DS as he has surgery next monday.

How about a doll with nice long hair? Something that she can play with to distract herself. Other than that I'm clueless. I hope it all goes well for you and DD on Wed.

Pretty Butterfly: Can I ask where you got the Glow Worm from? Sounds perfect for DS.

along with the doll could you get a doctors kit? if you find one with a thermometer or some of the things that they may be using on your little one, she may be able to play doctor with the doll that can help her get undertanding and make it less scary.

I too was going to suggest a glow worm type thing.

My DD has a seahorse that plays lovely soft music, we got it when she was born and she had it in hospital with her for the 3 months and still loves it now, will definatly be coming to hospital with us in November.

DD's is blue, but they have just bought out a pink one! They are in Kmart, about $25-.

Best of luck for your hospital stay.

Thanks guys SOOOO much for your suggestions - we are going toy shopping this afternoon. Although she borrowed from her friends house this morning a doll that cries and you give it a bottle (i would prefer a dummy, so my kids don't think babies are all fed from a bottle, but you can exact stick in a removable breast now can you?? although my brother (24) has a stress ball that is a soft squeezable boob complete with nipple - maybe i should borrow that *lol* )

Anyway, she was in 7th heaven walking around patting it - so i might look for an all-in-one doll, and might also get a magna-doodle and a glow worm... We don't have those toys, and DS 3.5 will still love each one (he loves dolls and babies also)

And looks like i will be going this Sunday also - as it turns out my DS is also having an operation (grommits) next monday!

So 2 procedures in 1 week... when will i get a break???

We have a leapfrog caterpillar type thing that could be cuddly. It plays classical music, colour & number songs, and has different rattly/toy bits on it. Don't know how much it is tho, it was a gift, and I know leapfrog stuff isn't cheap. We used to use the medley setting to put DS to sleep hehe.

I was thinking of a glow worm too. I also thought of a Careflight Bear dressed as a hospital patient...they are really cute. Very $$ from the Careflight site...but you can get them on Ebay (even brand new) very cheap.

Goodluck!!! My DD is 19 months and loves INTG. How about an Uppsy Daisy Doll? or that Fisher Price bear where you can press the hands, feet and tummy and differnt songs come out. Or take a small sack of different toys and books. I would put in a play phone, favourite books, play bangles.
