My MCHN said to use a suncream specifically for babies as it doesn't have a certain chemical in it that regular suncreams have that could be harmful to bubs. At the end of the day it is best to keep them out of the sun, wear light cotton clothing and a hat.

Sunsuits would be personal preference. DS has a swim nappy and a rash vest that zips at the front. Sometimes it's a pita as it rides up because it's slightly too big for him atm. But we swim indoors once a week, it's mainly just to keep him warm.

The thing is sunscreen is absorbed, so some things in sunscreen can actually affect liver function in young babies. I would use a sunscreen designed for babies until they are at least 12 months.

A good sunscreen is the UV Natural brand.

I use a special baby sunscreen from the Cancer Council shop.

Swimmers, I go for an all in one 3/4 length sleeve full suit on all three of mine. Again, from the Cancer council shop. They are exy, but they last a whole summer of chlorine, whereas the cheaper ones don't seem to last. I also use the swim suit material hats from the Cancer Council shop.

I did try Baby Bans, but they children seemed to get narked by them, so now they just have standard kids sunnies........

We shop at Cancer Council shop too.....yep, more expensive, but lasts summers and summers long.
My mum bought my DD#3 today a 50+ floral 50's style hat - its sooo gorgeous. 50+ factor really got me.....i never even knew you could get it that high. She also got a all in one wetsuit type thing - again, from cancer council shop. Around $50 i think......

AS I said, exy, but worth it for me! (My Mum has serious skin cancers and it scares the wotsits out of me, especially as Olivia is a red head.........)
