teething issues

Just wondering if any of you might have some ideas. Our youngest is teething something fierst but we are unable to give him anything to help so he is clingy and cry's all the time. the teething tablets we have seen have either a soy product or a milk by-product. "B" has a reaction to both soy/nuts, etc as well as all milk and milk by-products. We would love to give him something but not sure what we can due to his food allergies.

Any idea's?

I havent even heard of teething tablets! - (just saw you were in the states)

What about Bonjela for the gums with some Panadol?? (an oral gel for relief of inflammation - I would think that would be fine but could check with pharmacist and some paracetomol)

Yeah, teething tablets are a US thing. Do you have teething gel over there to numb the gums? Would you feel ok giving your little one some tylenol?

The other thing I would suggest is giving your baby an ice block to suck on in one of the mesh feeding bags. If an ice block is too cold, try a couple cold grapes or slice of pear etc. This seems to help my LO a little.

This works a treat!!! Keeps my little boy happy for a while until he gets really tired and then he's forgotten about the pain and goes straight to bed no crying!!

Thank you all for the replys - did not know the tablets were a US only thing. He is not a big fan of the cold things (frozen blocks, etc), we do from time to time give him tylonal which can help and we have done the gel when it is real bad but was hoping to find something that worked and would maybe be better to give throughout the day - guess that is probably wishful thinking eh?

You can get teething tablets in Australia, I forget what brand they are though!

Some people swear by Amber teething necklaces, I know one of my baby buddies uses one and says it works well. If you are desperate it might be worth looking into?

We use an amber teething necklace and although many people poo poo it i really believe that it has worked so far.
We had a really bad day and night a few weeks ago and then later realised that i had forgotten to put the necklace back on the night before...

Also how about harder things to chew on, carrots from the fridge cut into fingers are good (we also used this for our dog when she was a puppy and teething!)

There are also some homeopathic remedies that can work well - we got some remedies for MJ if she has an 'angry' crying pain, but so far we have not had to use them...

Other times when she seems to be rubbing her cheeks and pulling her ears (she is not really a crying baby) i will have some quiet time with her and rub a moisturiser on her cheeks and massage the jaw area, sometimes she really enjoys this, other times not
