Teething or Sore Belly or What is going on???

DD is 9 months and for about 2 weeks I was pretty sure she was teething. Had all the same symptoms she had when she got her first 2 teeth (bottom ones), had the red cheeks, lots of drooling, change in nappy situation, runny nose, disturbed sleep patterns. When things started to settle down over last weekend we didn't have any new teeth so figured it must have been some moving around in there and no break through yet.

Last night though it all started again with interrupted bedtimes, her waking late at night and not resettling.. Her sleep has been all over the place. Sometimes 2 day sleeps, sometimes 3. She is sleeping sometimes between 6 and 14 hours. The few good days it was like she was trying to catch up on all the sleep she'd missed as she was up some nights at 2am for hours during that fortnight we thought she was teething.

Also during that time her nappy situation changed dramatically. She went from 5-6 very decent poo nappies per day to maybe 1 or 2 very small amounts. I'm still getting 1 or 2 a day but only about the size of a large marble or small mandarin (sorry about descriptions). I'm wondering if this is constipation and if I need to do anything for that??

Should I take her to our GP for a check up to see if it's teething or what is going on? She is crying and unsettled now and I just don't know if it's teething, upset belly, just unsettled, if she is having a growth spurt or if she is just putting on a performance..

Last night she was up at about 11.30pm till about 12.45am and then woke at 7.45am, back to sleep at 9am for 2 hours, then 2 more sleeps this afternoon. Back in bed at 7.30pm without drama but awake again at 8.30pm screaming and unsettled. Night before it was same kind of deal but it was 2am that she finally got back to sleep.

Any suggestions please???????

Are her poos hard and pebble like? Could well be that she is constipated. We had the same problem a couple of days ago. Jasper was absolutely screaming with pain. I gave him a dose of Infants Friend and was able to get him to sleep after that. He did a big poo the next morning and was back to normal. Infants Friend is a slight laxative. Otherwise prune juice, prunes, kiwi fruit or pears could help. HTH
