He may just be an early developer . Don't worry too much. They start to tantrum when they want to distinguish themselves as a separate person to you. It is very healthy. Our DS had tantrums from this age. The best thing you can do is to set clear but reasonable rules with logical follow through if he tends to push the boundaries. Don't have too many rules (make everything as toddler proof as possible) and offer comfort when he works himself up into a tantrum. He is just expressing that overwhelming feeling of powerlessness when he doesn't get his own way. He will learn to deal with those feelings as he gets older but it helps knowing that you still love him even if he can't get what he wants at the time (eg. the 10th bikkie, climb the curtains, pull the cats tail. lol). And cuddles or you just being near helps him to learn that he will recover from disappointments. I think for sure it must be harder for the younger ones to see their older siblings being allowed to do something and not understanding why they can't.
Oh the joys of toddlers hey?
*sigh* Right here with you hun.... Tanty, tanty, tanty. Going to eat breakfast? Tanty. Wiping his face? Tanty. Changing his nappy? Tanty. Brushing his hair? Tanty. You get the idea.
Some days are worse than others. Today was a bad one. But I live in hope that tomorrow will be better ....
I had a particulary unpleasant day with Flynn. He has seemingliy decided that he doesn't need naps during the day anymore (egads! the screaming...). Just what i need being 30 weeks pg! He was also being mummy's big helper while I was hanging out the washing (inside on clothes horses cos of the cruddy weather). That pretty well meant if I put it on he would kindly remove it for me...Don't touch please...screaming etc, etc, etc.
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
I am hoping that he is getting it all out of his system and we will have a delightful 2 year old...I'm not very optimistic about this tho!
GL, you are not alone (if that makes you feel any better )
Hi guys thanks for the feed back...
Its pretty much what i had been thinking - that hes just making the break into his own little person, I just wish he could do it without the screaming!
