sherie to stop sophie sucking hers we taped her thumb with sports tape, she was only two so was unable to undo it, you could try that but at 5yrs she may take it off
What a great thread filled with awesome ideas. I also have a major dummy addict and am terrified of taking it off her. I'm thinking of doing the dummy exchange for a stuffed toy. You ladies have given me so much hope.
Any tips for how to keep her from stealing Will's dummy?
Liviam, does she steal her brother's dummy now? I have just made sure that DS2's dummies don't look like the ones DS1 used. The couple of times he has looked like taking one I just pointed out how tiny the teat was and that it was for a baby. It hasn't been a problem.
My SIL did the fairy thing with her daughter on her birthday, she told her that fairies come and because your turning x now your too big for the dummy.
She told her the fairy leaves an extra special birthday present just for you for being such a big girl, she also asked about it for a couple of days but is now well and truly over it.

Hmm sucking the thumb is hard my mum tried putting the gross nail stuff on but after a while i got used to the taste.
My BIL has told his little girl if she keeps sucking her thumb or biting her nails he wont paint her nails anymore and they wont look pretty!
I did the dummy fairy story...the first night she didn't rate it so I didn't push it. The second DH sat with her so she was happy to let it run. She gets her pressie...voila! She hasn't asked since.
She did put Nate's in her mouth yesterday - just so it wouldn't get lost but she didn't protest when I took it off her.
We've done 3 nights already...I cannot believe it. I thought she'd be taking it to school lol

DS still asks randomly, and we just raise our eyebrows like its the WEIRDEST question in the world and say "you know where it is" and he always answers "ahhh yeah, its with the fairies.. "
Although today he did ask if I was a fairy so I could get it back for him.. haha
We told her the fairies took her dummies to the sick babies in hospital because they needed them more than she did...she's cool with that. SHe's been happy to tell anyone she's seen where they are now. Even told me as we drove past the hossy....lol how funny are they?
well done Kim!! Arch still has his dummies all the time! I have given up, though he has started to realise that if he insists on taking them with him shopping, kidsw walk past him and laugh, so he often leaves them behind now "so da kidth don't laugh at me". Nothing like a bit pf peer pressure LOL
