Does anyone have any ideas for dealing with food constantly being thrown on the floor? DD is a good eater (not really fussy and eats a good variety of stuff) but she is loving throwing food on the floor and it is making me crazy! We have tried being strict about, tried ignoring it, tried taking the food away... not sure what else to try. Hopefully it is just a phase but I was kind of hoping that someone out there in BB land would have a secret solution
DD ahs cut back on how much she throws, and i think its because we have involved ehr in teh clean up so we haev a second bowl and what she doesnt want she puts in teh "rubbish" bowl and then she takes it to the bin..
My DD is really into rules so we have a rewards chart with her "rules" on it. One of the rules is to "eat meals nicely". If at the end of the meal she has achieved this, we make a big deal out it and she gets a sticker on her reward chart. She REALLY loves her reward chart - she helped make it.
The only other thing we did was to ignore her when she did it and make her pick it up at the end of the meal.
We are trying something similar to Kellz...
Well, trying!
Charlotte loves to clean - wiping tables and her high chair and carries a baby wipe around with her half the day.
She loves to wipe up her own table and tends t throw the food on the floor if she has finished her dinner and wants to 'clear the table' iykwim. she likes to clear the coffee table too and the book shelf lol
So I think so far we have thought along the lines of she is trying to be clean, not make a mess. Very rarely she will throw things on the floor to get some attention. If we take her food away just as you see the signs she is going to throw it, and give her a baby wipe, she is content to sit for another 10 minutes trying to clean the table ... A bit like watching for sleep signs, we watch for throwing signs at diner time!
Hope that helps a little anyway...Let me know if you come up with something else too!!
