bottle or breakfast first?

just wondering who gives their bub bottle first then breakfast? i give my DD a bottle when waking around 5.30am and she'll have her breakfast about an hour later. or perhaps i should just give her breakfast straight away? thanks

Kayla is on the boob a number of times overnight, so when she wakes up later in the morning I just give her breakfast. She's had plenty to drink already LOL.

At 9 months tho, if she hadn't been feeding overnight, I think I would have started with a milk drink first and then breakfast later, like you're doing. Solids aren't their main 'food' until around 12 months, so i wouldn't want to be filling her up on solids if it affected her milk intake.

I started giving Loren breakfast first at 9 months, however, she was not waking at 5.30am and she was still having the occasional 3am bottle. Does bub cry out for the 5.30 bottle or is it a routine thing? If bub is not asking for that bottle try and hold off till a later time and give breakfast first.

Loren did wake around 5.30 a few times and I gave her a bottle. My rule is to start a breakfast routine that I will continue with. Therefore if you start giving bub breakfast at 5.30am she'll want it all the time then.

I gave DS his bottle until he was able to tell me that he didn't want it before breakfast - so maybe 14 months? He has a small sippy cup of milk with breakfast now.

I still give a 240ml bottle first and DD is 14 months old. I do that for two reasons. FIrstly, she absolutely skulls it so I figure she must want it. Secondly we can do that in bed together and I don't want to give up our early morning hugs. Then we have a play and she has her breakfast about an hour or so later (1-2 Weetbix and fruit). Then back to bed for a morning nap. When she starts being not fussed about the bottle, that's when I'll go straight to breakfast. I should also say that I'm not a morning person at all and DD wakes up quite early so the last thing I want to do is to fly out of bed and start organising breakfast - I'd rather wake up quite slowly with us both snuggly together in bed - DD with her bottle and me half-listening to the news.

DS is 7 months. If he is crying coz he's hungry (very rare in the mornings) I will give him boob, if not I will give him brekky.
DS may have boob at 6am though. He has brekky once he's up for the day. If its before 7am he usually goes back to sleep.

thanks everyone. she woke at 4.40am this morning (argghhh) and daddy got up and waited until 6am to feed her the bottle, she was pretty happy just to have cuddles with him and i slept in (bless him). i can see your point regarding breakfast really early then always expecting it. she never wakes up through night for bottle or anything. so i might just continue with her bottle first. she skulls it too. thanks for your replies
