Could you not lay down with him? Explain to him that mummy is having a rest now, and so must he? I dont know if your son is too young to understand, but i found with DD#1 at around 2 yrs we used to call it 'rest time' rather than sleep. The word sleep and what was associated with it used to horrify her! LOL. We would have cues just b4 rest time so she knew i.e after the wiggles, it was rest time, we would go into her room, close the blinds, change nappy, lie down and read a book, mummy lay down for 1 minute, then we go sleep. It took a good week b4 i could walk out of the room and wouldnt see her again for 1 hour. See how it goes......good luck.
