My DH pointed out that my 2.5 year old's front teeth are yellowing up the top and I feel so bad. It is such a battle brushing his teeth and maybe we aren't doing it enough or long enough. What can I do to fix it?? How do you brush your toddlers teeth when they are arching their back and throwing a tantrum and then refuse to rinse the tooth paste out Advice is greatly needed...
Ive always just given my toddlers a toothbrush, with toothpaste on, and let them watch me. Eventually i figured they would get it. The older 2 (6,3) are great with brushing their teeth. My 2 yr old watches, sucks the brush, has a play around, then runs off to do something else. The penny will drop....eventually. I just made sure i was doing what they were doing (i.e brushing my own teeth) whilst in the bathroom with them....
:yeahthat: We give DS the brush and he plays with it and then we try to give a quick scrub at the end (not everytime though)
I don't make DS spit the toothpaste out - my dentist uncle didn't make his kids do it so I figure its fine (of course that was before they added flouride to the water)
I was thinking about this today, as DD's breath was a little smelly when she woke up, so thanks for asking!
We do give her the toothbrush, but she doesn't do much with it, and we tend to be bruhing our teeth at the same time. I bought toothpste, but haven't started using it yet cos was warried about her not spitting it out, so if that doesn't matter, maybe I should just put some toothpast on there.
