DS has very few toys.. and is extremely content! When we visit friends whose homes resemble toysrus stores he doesn't even look twice at the big budget brand stuff.
He loves to role play already - I love to cook and do it often so when I am cooking I will give him his own bowl with a whisk, masher or tongs and he will happily sit on the floor and 'cook' too. He rather enjoys cleaning (will hold onto this for as long as a I can I am certain once the teenage years hit it will all change) and I bought a second mop for him, he imitates me perfectly! Sounding a little like child labour HAHA Did I mention he will wipe down the cupboards with a papertowel while I do the bench tops
His sandpit is the favourite place to be - he has a set of blocks in there and will build and knock down towers for the good part of an hour! He is very inquisitive and whenever DP is home tinkering with something, you'll find DS holding onto a screwdriver doing his best to 'fix' things too! Oh another goodie is using a paint brush with water on the cement, he will 'paint' and watches in amazement as it drys and disappears than does it over and over and over again. We have also been doing some jumbo chalk 'drawing' but he tends to eat it more than draw with it EEWW!
There was an interesting show on SBS on Thursday (I think) called "Consuming Kids: The Commercialisation Of Childhood". It was largely American based. The amount of money spent by/for children was in the several hundreds of billions EEKK
MAYANESS - I am picking up what you are putting down, you took the words right out of my mouth and wrote them down so eliquently! We heart the Tupperware Shape-O in our household!
