DH, DD and I are going to Sydney for the weekend. We won't be hiring a car. So I was wondering what the rules and regulations are for traveling with a nearly 2 year old in taxis in NSW. Of course we will make requests to get a cab with a child restraint fitted. But I was wondering what we would do in case the ordered cab doesn't turn up (something that has happened a few times when we lived in Sydney). So, we obviously won't be able to just hail down a cab, as that one might not have a seat fitted. I was even wonddering whether we should take our car seat, but to fit it every time would just take up too much time. Plus, it's soooo huge and clunky.
Honestly I have never seen a cab with a carseat in it in Sydney but I have never asked for one before. I would call the big taxi company's or the more elite ones. Silver Service (all silver cabs) is a very good cab company and much more helpful. Taxi's combined is all the sydney companies together. You could also try the cab company in the area you are staying, for instance if you are on the north side, there is ABC cabs or Manly cabs, if on the south side there is St George Cabs hope this helps.
Sasa, you can ask for a seat to be fitted but alot of the cabs dont have the room to drive around all day with a car seat in the boot just in case they get a call requesting the use of one.. You are allowed to travel with DD on your lap in a taxi.. scary i know especially they way some of them drive!
