DS2 prefers to sleep on his tummy, and i let him during the day, as its much easier to get him to sleep, so i can deal with DS1. I do check on him often..
Does anyone else's bub prefer this, what did you do, etc etc,
I guess i just want some reassurance or something..
I am hearing ya.. My DS was introduced to tummy sleeping in hospital in the humi crib (Premi baby). Since then he fuses until he is on his tummy or side. Just recently he has started rolling on to his tummy all the time and I just let him. He's doign it himself so I let him.
We tried everything in the early days as we were so stressed (He was sooooo tiny). In the end we were successful in side sleeping but like I said now he can chooses and move it's tummy again.
Thanks Ella.
He also sleeps on his side at night, wrapping and trying to get him to sleep on his back was a nightmare. From day dot really.
How old are they before its more 'safe', or, is it more of a matter of when the baby can get itself into that position - ie, start rolling etc?
ds2 would only sleep this way too, i was nervous to leave him like that, so instead i would put him in the bassinette in between 2 rolled up towels, on his side, his head was out the top of the towels so no way he could get smothered, he was in so tight he couldn't go on his tummy, he was fine like that. He's still a tummy sleeper now. I think if you check on him often, or listen for his breathing on the monitor its fine.
i have him between two rolled up cloth nappies for when he's on his side,
have been meaning to ask you thou, do you still use the monitor pad things under DS2? I have been thinking that perhaps i should get some..
I never actually got around to setting up the sensor pad and then he was a very mobile baby from early on so he would have rolled off it when we moved him to the cot. I use the angelcare monitor though but if you want the sensor pad you can have that set as i have another monitor i can use instead. Just let me know and i'll pack it up for you!
