DS2 was nearly 2 by the time he was too big for rear-facing, and even then it was more length than weight. He has always been small for his age though. It's great that your DS seems happy enough - it's easier when they like the safe option!

Definitely keep him there as long as he is happy I think DD1 was around 13 months when we turned her, and I would love to keep her in rearward facing, but I don't think she would let me - plus she's 12kg now.

I'm planning on keeping DD2 that way as long as I possibly can.

I kept DD in reverse for as long as possible, until she was 20 months and hit 12kg, she then lost weight and was sitting under the limit and I had thought about putting it back again, but weighed her the other day and she regained the 1/2kg and is back to 12 kg

Can I just say I am absolutely rapt that everyone is extending the time they keep their children backward facing. When I had DD I was the only one who thought it was the best thing to do. And when I had Seth I was one of few. So this thread makes me so happy I just can't wait for the govt to finally get behind the motion!
