    TV at 6AM?

    Hi all

My baby is 2.5 years old..and likes to watch cartoons every day at 6
Just sits there and make noise

Are there any rules you apply on this? Should I tolerate it?

I would, DD2 gets up every morning at 5am. There is NO WAY I am getting up then so I barracade ourselves into the living room, pop on a Wiggles DVD and go back to sleep on the sofa!

I say anything that gives you more sleep makes you a better, less cranky Mum

yeah , i dont think its that bad ..... as long as they get outside play or phisical actvity its not a problem ...

kids actually learn alot from those shows ... if i need a moment ( like right now) i put ds in the high cahir and pop on cartoons .. he has a ball...

    so relax ..its ok ..

My DstepD has for years got up early to watch TV and has just started school. She is a very well adjusted young lady. It has always given us a chance to have a lie in on the weekends.

i dont see any problem with kids watching tv, krystal has learnt so much fom the wiggles etc. we pretty much always have the tv on, she loves 3pm when i put channel 2 on, sit her in the bean bag with her afternoon tea.. she stays there till bananas finishes (3.05 lol) then she is up and about, building blocks, while looking up at t he tv every now and then.

i would encourage tv less when she is a bit older, if i see signs that she would prefer to sit and watch tv and do nothing else, rather than playing or reading or going outside... but at 2, i think its just part fo what she likes to do!!

DS has been getting up at 5.45 since moving into his big bed, so I put on Dora for him and go back to bed. He even knows how to turn the dvd over to ABC Kids when it gets light outside!!! LOL.

I agree, i dont see anything wrong personally, with kids watching tv, provided they have other productive type things in their day. Alot of kids programs are quite educational. I tried for months to get my DS to clap, then one day while watching Diego (Dora's cousin) he just started clapping! Theres a part in the show where Diego says clap your hands with me clap clap clap.. and ever since he has been clapping.

If your 2.5 year old is happy to sit and watch whlie you get a few extra z's then definately go for it!!! I remember as a kid my brother and i use to get up and do the same thing every day.

LOL Kell at the clapping with Diego - my ds has started counting in Spanish from watching Diego and Dora. He counts to 12 in English and to 5 in Spanish, even though we haven't taught him to do it!

The only rule i appl to early morning TV is that they are not allowed to watch the cartoons on Channel 10. Been doing that since DS1 was old enough to turn the TV on. Even now they just don't watch it.. I find the cartoons silly and violent..

anyways in saying that. They watch ABC kids and if I have taped anything the night before for them...

i agree with the channel 10 cartoons, i think ABC is more suited to the little ones!
