Thanks so much girls. We did take her down to the medical centre and by the time we had arrived, the rash had calmed down. Then while we were waiting it almost dissapeared. We waited anyway to see the Dr (two fricken hours!!) who literally said to us 'what do you want me to do about it' We were gobsmacked and embarrassed. I felt like I over reacted and maybe I did? I never had this with my first DD so I had no idea. Though it wasnt a deep purple rash like in meningitis cases, it was enough to worry me. DH came home from work and he looked at it and was worried about it too and he is usually a calm guy. Anyway, she has a nasty virus of some sort. High temps and just miserable and clingy. I am keeping a close eye on her. Thanks so much girls for all of your concern!!!

I'm so glad shes ok but shame on that doctor. Any rash like that should be checked out. You.did the right thing and the same thing that all of us would have done. With something like that, its much better to be safe.

You did the right thing by taking her. When I saw your post last night I was concerned and I could see the other girls were too. I'm soo glad it's nothing serious.
Shame on the hossie though for making you wait soo long and the docs bad attitude!

DD used to often get a rash when she was younger if she had a viral infection, although it was never purple like your DD's. The first time she had it, my mum, who is a children's nurse, told me to take her to the doc's and she came with me - the doc gave me a similar reaction to yours and treated me like I had wasted his time. My mum was fuming and told me to not listen to the doctor and make sure if I'm ever concerned about a rash, to get it checked, regardless of what the doctor says. So I'm guessing what I'm saying is, its better to be safe than sorry! You did the right thing

glad to hear she's okay & booooo to that doctor. does he realise that with his attitude he may make people think twice next time about taking their child to the doctor? and what happens if the next time something was really serious grrrr. those doctors make me mad!! they act like you're wasting their time but you're not to know - that's why you go to someone who's had years & years of training!

Better to feel a little bit silly by going (even though the Dr needs a kick in the backside for speaking like that to you!) than to not go at all kwim? You did the right thing - you had to find out if it was serious or not.

So glad to hear that she is ok. I can't believe the hospital/doctor though, how dare he make you feel silly for being concerned about a purple rash that appeared quickly! That is the one thing we're told to look out for. You did the right thing.

Yes, I agree it was bad of her to act that way, we felt like fools. I wont bother going back there. Also the wait...I know you wait normally but with something like that shouldnt they put you close to the top of the list? It was a medical centre where no appt is necessary and you just join the queue as you arrive, but surely they should at least quickly check over a baby with a suss looking rash before seeing adults?? Then at least they can say ok you need to go to the hospital rather than sitting there on it. I was pretty sure by the time we arrived and it had gone down that it wasnt anything sinister, but still, I wanted to be reassured. Otherwise I would have worried all night long.

So glad your daughter is okay. I would have been absolutley fuming at any Doctor if they treated me the way you were. Like the others have said it is better to be safe then sorry and god forbid anyone ever gets treated like that and then decides to not get something looked at for fear of judgement again. Shame on that Doctor. Makes me so very glad to know that my local medical center will see any baby/kid straight away without an appointment, they will just squeeze them in.

Glad your little one is OK, and so sorry to hear about the rude doctor. Maybe if the rash flares up again you could take a digital photo, so if the rash happens to calm again before you see someone (if you had another 2 hour wait!) you can at least show them what the rash looked like? Hope she feels better soon anyway.
