Waking up too late from last sleep

What are your sleep times like for 10 month old babies??

DD is staying up longer and longer between naps. Usually 3-3.5hrs now. She wakes up at around 7 then has a nap around 10.30 til 12pm. So her next nap can be as late as 3.30 meaning she's waking up at around 5 which is too late because she won't be in bed until 9!!

Today I tried to get her to nap earlier but no luck!! So, what can I do?? Wake her up earlier so she goes to bed earlier??

Is she transitioning to 1 nap? Nooooooooo..........

DD is a good sleeper which is lucky for me. I think she is a bit of an exception to the general rule and I am waiting for it to all blow up in my face!!

She wakes between 6 and 7am
Morning sleep- at around 9:30am. Normally a good 2-2.5hrs
    Wakes at midday
Arvo sleep at 2pm. Normally 2.5hours.
    Bedtime at 7pm.

If by chance she sleeps in in the morning then everything just gets pushed back apart from nighttime bedtime. I always try and keep it the same.

I wouldnt wake her up but you may find that that last sleep becomes a shorter one. They get tired and more cranky later in the day so I try and get her down by 7pm so she doesnt get overtired.

Wow Ali that's a lot of sleep!!
DD will only sleep for 45mins to 1.5hrs for her naps. And she HAS to be awake for at least 3 hrs to be tired enough for a sleep!! So it's hard fitting it all in.

I think both DS and DD were really similar and went down easily for their naps at 9.30 till around 11am, and then for their next one at around 2 - slept till around 3.30 or 4, then bedtime around 7.30.

From memory of course, but I do know they always had a morning and arvo one. I think DD1 cut hers down to 1 nap at around a year old, and DS was later at around 15 months when he went down to 1.

Heaven I went through a similar thing with DD at around the same age.... it happened during transitions from 3 to 2 and from 2 to 1 naps. Sometimes even now she will still have two naps, but if she wakes up from the last one after about 3.30 we're in for a long night. She was the same in that she would.not.sleep unless she was awake for 3+ hours first (ETA now it's 4+ hours ). Can you try making sure she is awake after her afternoon nap at about 4, even if that means she only sleeps for half an hour? it's a pain I know but sometimes it's better than her fighting you at bedtime.

I know Sam's a bit older, but he's been on this schedule for a while now.

He wakes around 7am, and his first nap usually starts between 9:30 and 10.

If he's not already awake, we wake him between 12 and 12:30 - otherwise he has a tendency to sleep until 2!

He then goes down around 3:30 for an afternoon sleep, gets up around 5.

BUT - dinner at 6:30 and bed time at 9 works for us as DH doesn't get home from work until after 6 and this lets them have father-son time at some stage in the day.

I figure that Sam can drop to one day sleep when he can have it late enough in the day for it to work for us - until then, he gets two day sleeps which we shorten for him if he doesn't wake up on his own. I know we're transitioning to one sleep, but we're not quite there yet, and I figure his day will need to shorten a bit when we do, it won't be such an issue when I'm at work and DH is at home (next month!) but for now it works for us.

I know it feels mean, but I'd wake her when you need to in order to ensure that her next sleep happens at the right time for her bed time.

how much sleep is too much sleep

    Hi mums

I am wondering if my baby is sleeping too much for her age?
She is almost 6 weeks old and normally sleeps 4 hours in between feeds.
As soon as she finishes a feed she likes to fall asleep straight away which means there isnt much awake time (nappy change and that is pretty much it)
Now that she is approaching 6 weeks.....she can sleep between 4 - 6 hours at night, and then spend more time awake during the day.

Initially people all said I had a 'perfect' baby because she was easy to manage but is this too much sleep compared to other babies who prefer to be awake more......
