DS is enjoying moving around now. For a little while he has spun himself around on his back and scooted off head-first until he comes up against an obstacle. However, he doesn't like being on his back, he likes standing. Last night he decided to take a few steps... backwards. He was walking backwards (with me supporting his arms) for about 20 steps. Is this normal? Should I be trying to encourage forward walking? I did try turning him around so he was facing the opposite direction, but he just went backwards again, back to the starting point.
He also bum-shuffles backwards, but doesn't do that too much as the movement topples him over.
What does he do when he is trying to crawl Ryn? At 6 months Sammy was starting to move backwards before he started to crawl, so maybe its the same?? Also when he was in his walker he would quite happily from 5 months push himself backwards til he got the hang of it.
He doesn't crawl - he hates his tummy so either screams or rolls over. He doesn't have a walker, but does have a bouncer and... I should observe him in that again as he hasn't been in it for a couple of weeks. But he did go forwards and backwards before. Ah well, DH will be excited if he does start crawling. I quite like him mostly immobile!
Just noticed you've been BFing for over 2 years! Well done you, Jo!
I crawled backwards and never forwards apparently - I don't tell many people that because I inevitably get the "well that explains a few things". I wouldn't be at all concerned Ryn, they all have their quirks. I am sure he will walk forward soon too.
