    Water

DD is 5.5 months and breastfed, she has been having solids for a couple of weeks. I haven't been giving her any water because I had read breastfed babies don't need extra water, anyway my mum and SIL are both encouraging me to give DD water and at mothers group a few are giving water, so my question is how much and how often should I be giving DD water. She doesn't particularly like drinking from a bottle so I would prefer not to upset her by trying to give water to her in a bottle.

I didn't give DS who was fully bf, water until he was 9 months old and then in a sippy cup when he was at FDC cause he was missing a lunchtime bf 3 days a week.

I don't think they particularly need water at this stage. My DS is 4 months, I give him water out of a sippy bottle so it dribbles out because he can't/won't drink out of a bottle. I only give it to him because he seems to like it, he will keep pulling the bottle into his mouth for another mouthful.
