Which doll does your little girl love?

I've bought DD (who turned 2 in Sept) a Baby Born for Christmas but I'm having second thoughts about it as a few friends, with older daughters, have said the Baby Born is the least favourite for their daughters. They've all said a soft bodied doll is better and all the extras like the potty, being able to feed it, etc is a waste.

I really want DD to get a new doll for Christmas as I'm due for our second baby around then and would love for her to have her own new 'bubba'. She has a little soft bodied Fisher Price doll which is designed for 18mths+ and she does love it but I thought a new one which is a bit bigger and can be dressed, etc might be more appropriate going forward.

Any other doll suggestions or comments on the Baby Born would be appreciated! TIA!

cheap doll from target i think - soft floppy body, plastic head and feet. ugly as all sin, but she LOVES it. pushes it around everywhere. no accessories. is bigger than an average newborn (she has 00 clothes for it)

I bought my DD one of the $10 dolls from kmart and its her "baby" and she sleeps with her and takes her almost everywhere!

Both my girls have a little cabbage patch they take everywhere but they also have a hard doll (cheap version baby born thing) they like feeding and pushing in the pram.

Mine has a soft bodied one that has the plastic hands, feet and head. The eyes close when she's lying down etc. Came with one set of clothes and we have bought little 0000 clothes for her as well. She has a CBK too that she got back in May and has only just now started playing with it really.

DD still has a soft bodied doll that I got her when she was about 12 months old - a little worse for wear now, but she's still on the bed with the teddies. Soft bodies tend to be the go, she really didn't like the baby born style until much later on and they certainly haven't endured as long.

a "Jemima" rag doll. She loves it. Mima goes everywhere dd goes! and the best part of it is she is small and replaceable easily from the ABC shop!

yep the soft cheapies are definite faves here. They have CPKs but they aren't as dragged around as the others.
We have a similar on to BG. She used to talk, but sadly she doesn't any more lol.
She fits all of our 00000 0000 clothes that DD managed to pilfer when DS was born.

I think the girls baby born has landed in the bottom of the toybox - I haven't seen it for such a long time! They have about 10each...

Their favourite is the ones with a hard head and arms/legs but it has a soft body....

Another one here who thinks Baby Borns were a bit of a waste of money in our household , both DD1 and DD2 have preferred the soft bodied dolls (I have a funny feeling they may have been Fisher Price brand).

Well that confirms that! An ugly, cheapo, soft bodied doll it is! I'll keep Optimus Prime in mind as a backup though

I'll take the Baby Born back and if she asks for one down the track, we'll upgrade then.

I let her play with a few dolls at Toys R Us today to see what tickled her fancy and funnily enough the fave was very ugly and cried when it's dummy was out. DD LOVED it. I refused to get it purely cause the crying was so damn annoying though! Must find one similar that doesn't make noise!

Same here Taurean. DD was given a box of 2 dolls: one a hard one & the other soft with hard head, hands & feet and she plays with them both equally.

Thanks for all your help girls. I finally found the perfect doll at a specialised toy shop It's a soft bodied doll made by Zaph Creations (same company as Baby Born) which is only a centimeter smaller than a Baby Born and therefore should be able to wear Baby Born clothes, etc too. It closes it's eyes and takes a bottle (which comes with it) and I've bought a dummy for it so it has more than enough accessories to keep DD happy.
