My DS is 2.5yrs old and he won't have a sleep most days now, after a few days of not having sleep though it catches up to him. Although it was hard at 1st with a newborn, I'd prefer he didn't have a sleep during the day as we couldn't get him to bed before 10pm those nights sometimes later!
I'd just go with the flow, if he can handle not having the sleep (and you too) then I wouldn't worry....I think rest time is important though for both mum and child, we usually put on a movie or read books for half an hour to an an hour.
My DD is 31.5months and is beginning to drop her daysleeps. She is good without one most days but if she's particularly active or ill she needs her nap or she's grump-city. ATM I am encouraging her to skip it because if she doesn't have it she goes to bed, to sleep, at about 7.30pm and if she does have it she can be awake until 10pm...
