What age did your little ones stop sleeping in your room?

Atm, DD is in her cot, in our room. I dont feel comfortable her being in her own room all night atm, so im curious, when did your little one make the change? What were your reasons behind moving them out of your room? Did u cope with walking down the hall to their room to tend to them in the middle of the night?

I waited for my kids to outgrow their cradle before moving them into their own rooms. They were all sleeping through the night so I didn't have to get up to them. At first it worried me, I thought I woudn't hear them if they did wake but I always did hear if they did wake up.

Hi MM, We had DD in our room until she was 1, when we moved to our new home. She settled in to her own room really well. DD is nearly 5 and still has her baby monitor in her room. We'll keep it there 'till it breaks. I'd rather hear her if she needs me and go in to her, before she comes in to me and frightens the cr#p out of me. Her room is not right near ours.

DS is nearly 4 months and in our room again, even though we have his room all ready to go. Not sure when we'll move him yet??? He's a very quiet sleeper and sleeps from 7pm until sometime between 5am and 6:30 am, so obviously even DH's loud snoring doesn't even bother him Lol!

I guess when you feel ready, you'll make the move.

Ashton goes down in his bed most nights, and I get him when he wakes for a feed then he sleeps in my bed for the rest of the night. The odd occasion he has slept through and I've woken at 5 or 6 and realised he is still sleeping hehe

I love having him sleep with me, Jaidan did until he was 14 months old, Chase didn't at all because it was hell getting Jaidan into his own bed! I had planned the transition a couple of months before so I could have the new baby in the bed but Jaidan had other ideas lol

DD was 18 months old ... partly because we were renovating "her" room. Without the renovations ... not sure. But I know one thing for sure, don't fall for the line that they won't get used to sleeping in their room if you have them in yours. DD now ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to sleep in our bed, even though she did for 8 months and then in the same room till 18 months. I now have to sleep with a teddy because I miss her so much and she refuses to sleep with us.

MM.... well lol Oskar is STILL in our room, in his cot next to me. He's 27 1/2 months - Elijah is 3 months and he's in there too lol. He's in his hammock at the end of the cot both on my side of the bed. I LOVE having Oskar there and will probably transition him to his bed (it's a single but can be made shorter so it's only about cot length atm) in there then to his room. I really do love him being there though and if he stirs in the night I can settle him before he really wakes up or if he's not well I can check what's going on. He threw up about a month or so ago but was on his back and not turning his head once he kinda woke up a bit and was frightened (he was choking a bit) so I was able to get to him (rolled him then sat him up) way before I would've even heard him had he'd been in his own room even though it's across the hallway cos we'd have the doors closed because of teenager.

So anyway at this point in time I have no immediate plans to move either of them anywhere. Oskar will possibly just decide to sleep in his big boy bed (which is set up) in his room one day on his own when he's had enough of us haha.

DD was 9 weeks when she went to her room (right next to ours) as she outgrew the bassinette and her cot wouldn't fit in our room. Also she was (and is) a very light sleeper and we all slept better when she was 5 metres away rather than 1 metre. In saying that will try to keep #2 in our room for as long as poss- it just feels better...

DS is 25 months and DD is 7 months. Both are in our room - either in our bed or in the bed / cot next to our bed. I have no immediate plans to move them out however DS is transitioning from our bed to a single bed next to ours. Both are still frequent night wakers and it is too cold to traipse down the hall to tend to them when they can be just there next to me and we all get to stay warm.

We moved DD into her own room at about 5 months. It was hard the first couple of nights becaue I missed her being close, but it's amazing how much better she sleeps in her own room! I think because she could always see us and smell my milk on me she was waking up a lot more when in our room. Now she sleeps through - or sometimes wakes once for a feed. I still have the monitor on even though I can hear her through our wall - just incase! Oh and she self settles now which she wouldn't do when in our room. Good luck!

DS was in our room (cot next to my side of the bed) until he was 12 months. We then moved and he went into his own room. But our house is very little - essentially our bed is in the dining room and DS' is in his room but there is only one doorway between us. He will be there till we move again in January and will be close to 3 years.

    hmm...

DS was in a cot in his own room until about 6 mths.. i got up to him through the night. Then his cot was in our room at about 7mths when we stayed with mum for a few months... and that's when we started co-sleeping. At about 13 mths when we knew he could climb off the bed, he got his own big bed in his room, but it wasn't used regularly for a long time. Sometimes we would start him off in there, but he always brought himself in to us through the night. He started sleeping through at about 2 1/2 and now only comes in in the morning.

DD has been in our room since day 1. Started off in a sidecar kind of cot attached to our bed, and then moved into our bed. She too got her big bed setup at about 13 months and occassionally we start her off in there, but she still brings herself in to us. She's been sick on and off for the last month, so haven't bothered with her own bed.

I dunno.. we just do whatever, figuring they'll sleep in their own room eventually (DS has confirmed that for me, and he is now a fantastic self-settler/sleeper.. no arguments at bedtime!) so I'm just being patient with DD too.

Jazz is still with us and we're thinking of tracitioning her to her room once it warms up, October probably. So she'll be 14 months. Dunno how it'll go. She still co-sleeps part of the night with us.

We co-slept with DD until she was about 24months,then she moved in to her own bed, still in our room. At 3 she went into her own room. DS co-slept with us until 24 months, then he moved in to the bedroom with DD and they share quite happily (for now). DS (4mths) sleeps with us and will probably do so for the next year and a half....
