what age to use gro suits?

hi all
a quick q - have got a grosuit that says 0-6 months... from what age is it safe/recommended to use these for sleeping (instead of blankets etc)? Advice welcome - I seem to remember seeing somewhere not to use them with newborns but I am not sure??

I believe that you can use them with newborns, you just have to ensure that their head cannot slip through the *head hole* So you have to make sure that it fits properly.
I use one with my 1 year old, and I have since he was about 10 weeks old. I love them, as now that he is more mobile he would be fully uncovered without it!

Izzy was 8 weeks old but it was a newborn one with the little press studs under the arms too, not sure if the 0-6 have those.

i actually asked the lady at baby bunting this question pregpan, as i was gonna but a 0-6month one and she told me that most people don't put them in them until about 4 months old- so i put off buying one and thought i'll reassess in a couple of months.

I have used one since Lucas was 4 weeks, works a treat.! I have him in the 0-6 months one and yes mine does have the press studs under the arms.

I havn't read anywhere were it says not to use them, I use them because it was recommended on the sids website.

I have been using one since Lachlan was about 5 weeks old. We are co sleeping at the minute and i was advised to use one of these rather than blankets, adn certainly not ourdoona.
I dont have this suit with the studs under the arms.. but lach isnt a small bubba.

Actually mine is a 0-6 mths not a newborn and they say 7 pound for this size- we started at 8 weeks as we were wrapping up until then.

thanks for all the replies... mine is a 0-6 month grobag and i am thinking of giving it a go in a few weeks now... esp as Noah hates to have his arms wrapped and in fact he sleeps without wrapping for all his day sleeps...
i'll just make sure the head isnt too big.. though he was 7pounds 3 at birth and is only getting bigger so i am thinking it should be ok.
there are so many things to consider with a new bub!!

Oh good luck with it hun, we did the same thing as Izzy hated having her arms wrapped so we stopped at 8 weeks and used the bag. I dont use it for day sleeps though, just her blankies! Not sure where you are in Oz - another thing to consider is that the TOG and suggested clothing rating is on the cool side. Some people dont use anything with the grobag (as they suggest you dont ) but we found that if we used their recommendation in winter for her she would freeze even with a heater in her room at 16 degrees. We use tight tucked cot sheets and cotton blankets over her to keep her snug and warm and once she started kicking - she doesnt kick the blankets off because of the bag.

thanks - great tip. i was thinking it didnt look warm enough though Noah currently sleeps in a wondersuit and one blanket - i think he is a hot baby!
