What age was your baby baptised/christened?

    Hi ladies,

Just wanting to see what age you all had you baby baptised or christened or whatever else it may be called in your particular faith?

We were thinking of having a naming day for Claire but I am unsure when we should do it.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Thanks Lindsay. I was thinking aroud 5 or 6 months would be a good time to do it? She is just too cranky at the moment. I had mine done at 5 months or something.

I just stalked your photo website. Lailas so cute! That church looks familiar - is it st bernadettes?? Sorry, I notice really bizarre things.

26 days old, Anglican for DS. He was so young he slept for most of it and wasn't upset by the water, he really enjoyed it.

You may want to see if the vicar/celebrant/whomever has a waiting list; our church has a 6-month list (I booked up super-early!) so you may be constrained by that.

Chelsea has her baptism in an Anglican church on August 5. She will be pretty much 8 months old by then. There was a 6 week waiitng list for us...our vicar said it will be perfect time for her cos she will be alert and wont mind being held as much then. Chels is a very friendly -go to any one- kinda baby.....and she loves water too!!

Kim, she sure is happy, you can tell from her photos!

Apart from DS, all of my extended family are Christened, and they usually have it before 6 months, most around 4-5 months.

I am yet to convince DH, and had a pretty mean comment (the person who said it really thinks it was well intentioned) about it from his family.

our girls were 11 weeks when they were christened in the catholic church. With our religion I believe that the baby should be christened soon after birth. It doesnt matter if it is a bit later but I know my mum was really eager to have them christened

Our kids were dedicated (slightly different to infant baptism/christening as it puts more emphasis on the parent's responsibilities and the baby still makes his/her own faith choice when they gain an understanding) when they were about 4 months old. But I have been to christenings of 1 month olds right through to a 4 year old.

Both mine were christened early at 3-4 months old, just personal choice really. And with DD it coincided with DH's 30th birthday so we thought since we would be inviting the same people to both we may as well make it a double celebration.

We also had a Dedication service for DD and she was about 3.5 months.

We had to take the fact that our families are in different states to us AND DH being able to get holidays into consideration so Jett will be baptised in teh catholic church on July 7th at 9mths. Later than I wanted or planned but I dont think it matters how old they are as long as its done for the right reasons Both Dh and I were done as infants (pre-6wks old) and our new baby will be done around 6wks old as we're doing it where we live now.

We did our girls last year - DD#1 was 2.5yrs, DD#2 was 3 months.
I will be baptising this one around 3 months too - only because i want her to fit into the same christening dress DD#2 wore, and i wore as a baby...

Zander's was when he was 9 days short of turning 6 months - he was born in March so when I though he was getting big enough it was too cold so we waited for the weather to start warming up again!

My younger brother & sister are 16 months apart, so mum was busy being pregnant & sick (LOL) to have my sister done straight away. She had them done together when my sister was 2 and my brother a few months old.

I don't think there really is a set time to do it though.

We had DD christened at about 5.5 months - I just had too much on my mind before hand, being a first time mum and all, to get organised before that.

Also, I thought I'd have a bit of a fight on my hands with DH about having her christened in the Catholic Church so I put it off a bit - in the end it wasn't an issue at all.
