When i first started to let DS out of the pram he was around 2years (DD a newborn) and i used one of the navy harness and leads and found it great. Especially when walking near roads or in shops where i didnt want him to run off or pull the shelves and their contents down. I still made it a rule that he held the pram and after he got used to it, id let him walk without the lead. Since then and even now he continues to walk and hold the pram the majority of the time. Has worked well for us.
We have a well loved one....it's only been worn twice....the rest of the time it has been played with to death lol.
My DD was a bolter. And she's quick.
I remember at 30 something weeks pregnant, I had my mum with me and the three of us were shopping in our main street (so very busy with traffic). All of a sudden I heard my mum gasp, and I saw a little pink streak run out the door. Now I've had plenty of practice chasing crooks, but man, I caught her just before she was about to bolt over the pedestrian crossing about 50metres away. My mum couldn't believe I could run so fast
When we were given a leash as a gift I was horrified, but I dug it out after that. She only took two goes to understand that I wasn't mucking around. She hated it (and I didn't love it either), but it got the message across. All prams have to have a wrist strap these days and that's what DD holds onto now. She was 2 and 10months when DS was born.
