We had bunks until the day my sister moved out of home I was 3.5 when our younger brother was born and we had a tiny 3 bedroom house so my sister and I shared a room. I slept on the bottom of the bunk and my sister, who was 6, had the top bunk.

We loved our bunks so much so I actually cried when my sister moved out and I finally had my own room and a single bed

i read today, bunks aren't recommended for kids under 9, i had never read any guidelines on this subject before. I've been wondering about getting one for bilby - but loft style, (so she could sleep on the top and have a play area underneath, which would be her desk/study later on - as a space saving measure in her tiny room).

she's great at climbing in playgrounds, but maybe the age limit is to do with falling out, when asleep? Nine seems a long way away. (five and a half years). sigh.

i had always assumed, from other houses i had seen, that kids used bunks earlier than nine. Maybe it's a public liability "just in case" thing. Wanting to avoid insurance payouts from accidents?
