All of a sudden DD won't settle!
In the past when she's due for a sleep I try get onto her tired signs and put her down, sometimes she'd put herself to sleep with a little grizzle and othertimes she'd need a little feed but it always worked.
Suddenly for the last few days it has turned into a nightmare and I don't know why. I see her tired signs and go to put her down but she starts screaming before she's even left my arms, I try giving her the breast but she won't even settle with that she just will scream and scream unless I'm holding her.
So I pick her up cuddle her for awhile, she'll grizzle but won't scream and once she is calm i try again to get her to sleep, again starts screaming! Then she ends up being so overtired that even while I'm cuddling her she'll shout til she tires herself out.
What can i do? I try putting her in a baby carrier thing but I can't carry her all day cause my back and shoulders get so sore and I can't sit down while cuddling cause she'll scream then too she only likes it if I'm standing.
I've found the last couple weeks to be so much harder than the first few weeks with her!
Shellbell3,
I found that when Jordan didnt want me to lye him down he had an ear infection. I am not saying that this is definatly the case but thats what I found.
Babies like to keep you on your toes so they will change their habits on the change of the wind.
Dont worry I am sure you are doing a fabulous job.
Do you have a rocker? I used to let Jordan sleep in the rocker, slightly elevated durig the day and it worked a treat.
shellbell, I'm having the exact same problem with my DD, I have tried everything, she even screams when DP holds her. I need the advice too. Maybe because it's getting hotter?
Aw you poor thing. Id say its just a phase shes going through. Jesse has his off weeks too where he wont sleep during the day which makes him a lil nightmare in the evenings. Ive found you just have to pursue it unfortunately and if he'll sleep anywhere ill let him, until he gets back into a good routine.. even if its on a play mat or a bouncer if you have one. Have you tried rocking her in the pram? Least it will give you back a rest.
Its hard i know when you dont know what you can do for them but things will get easier
Deancey- I've tried the rocker too, shes just not impressed with much, car always works though.
She doesn't mind lying down when we play or in the night, its just these days sleeps and sometimes she'll play up when first going to bed at night.
Ellsbells- Sorry to hear your having similar probs, could be a phase? I know a few of us mums in the september thread are having similar probs. It just gets so exhausting.
Kellxx- I hope its a phase, I don't know why she battles sleep so much when its obvious she is tired, once she falls asleep she'll sleep well its just that getting her to sleep without spending a whole lot of time screaming!
Rylee started this when she was about 8 weeks - I couldn't believe the change in her - from going down straight to sleep to a baby who would scream her head off - and it is still continuing - the only thing that works is putting her in her pram and wheeling it back and forth -today I have her out on the balcony in the fresh air and noise and she went off pretty quickly - the only thing I can attribute it to is that they are getting more alert and don't want to go to sleep in case they miss out on something. Rylee just seems to be fighting to stay awake all the time and wants to be looking around, etc. But it sure doesn't make the day any easier - it takes half the day trying to get her asleep so I can at least have 5 mins to myself and even then she only sleeps for 45 mins - not enough time for a sleep for me. I don't have any suggestions and really really hope they outgrow it soon!
