meg have you tired the vegie fingers similair to fish fingers but mad eof vegies, or you could make you own shape them liek chicken nuggets, will hea eat pancake perhaps make vegie pancake/fritters
Yeah I have tried the veggie nuggets. When he realises there are peas in there he won't eat it!
Pancakes are a good idea though.
He also loves salmon patties so I chock them full of vegetables.
Meg - I have a super fussy son so I am fast becoming the queen of hidden vegetables. I made up a big batch of every vegie imaginable, cook it in stock then puree it and freeze in ice cube trays in the freezer. This gets added to everything - mashed potato, casserole etc. He actually loves it by itself. The other night we had chicken parma's for tea but instead of the tomato stuff on DS's, I used the vegie puree and he scoffed it. I make up chicken rissoles and put lots of vegies in - same as the salmon patties. I also make muffins and put grated carrot and zucchini in them. DS will also eat vegies if they have been crumbed - like crumbed carrot sticks - but I don't do this often. There is a book around called "Deceptively Delicious" about making healthy food that they won't even realise has good stuff in it!
DS has a double ear infection so is a bit off food but here is what he has had so far.
English muffin with vegemite
Half banana
Kids rice bar
1/2 pear and some rockmellon
Vegemite sandwich
Slice of tomato
Grated cheese
Arrowroot biscuit
Handful of grapes
Dinner is chicken kiev with veges and wedges.
Heaps of water, but he is off his milk given that he is sick.
My DD eats like a pig, so probably not great for comparison to grazers! She'll be 3 next month.
Today she's had:
2 Weetbix with milk and a slice of wholemeal toast with honey/jam for breakfast (plus a bit of mine). Crusts get left behind.
A medium-sized bunch of grapes.
A ham sandwich with cheese, avocado, tomato and lettuce for lunch. A homemade biscuit afterwards (we ran out of yoghurt).
An icy-pole.
Will have some fruit shortly. Probably a small apple.
Dinner will be smaller portion of whatever we have. Tonight I'm making roast lamb with roast vegies. DD will eat all of the vegies and a bit of the meat.
Yoghurt or custard or icecream for dessert in a small tupperware container.
She also has a bf in the morning (missed this morning's though) and one b4 bed.
My DD has had:
Frozen peas and corn (she eats that all day if shou could)
Raisin toast
Cheese stick
Biscuit with homus dip
more frozen peas and corn
sweat potatoe and lamb (Rafferteys)...was feeling lazy for lunch!
and a bit of kabana
....did I mention more frozen peas and corn?
