Oh BTW I got my fisher price papasan swing off ebay for $80 good as new... $280 in the shops brand new!
Having a look at ebay may save you alot of money
What about a Bumbo? If she can hold her head up it should be ok? Jazz also likes her swing but then both of those are really only good if bub can support her trunk at least a little.
I have a fisher-price swing Jazz LOVED until she wanted to swing herself in the rocker bit. Its a swing but you can take the seat out and it become a rocker or a reclined seat. We used it from day one and she still uses the rocker, such great value. $150 I think it was. If you get a swing though try to get one that plugs in as it chews through batteries something shocking!
WIth the jumpers... honestly they are no good for bubs until they are starting to sit up by themselves at least. Also, they put weight on bubs under-developed bones - legs and hips - which aren't ready to take the weight yet so can have serious knee, back and neck problems stemming into adulthood as they gain weight. I have had so many problems with my knees it isn't funny, and apparently it is common in adults who were put in a JJ too early. ESPECIALLY if they were on a hard surface, as the impact can really affect growing bones.
BUT its up to you. We are buying Jazz a JJ now but I'm not sure if I'll use it until she starts crawling... even then... if you do choose to get one remember: no more than 10 minutes at a time.
DD used to love looking at herself in a mirror propped up safely at floor level when she was that age - in fact, she still does! Maybe some talkback radio in the room where she is lying would make her feel less alone? At least for a little while.
Harmony, you could always HIRE a jumperoo or exesaucer from Hire for Baby, thats what I've done - I have the FP jumperoo and the Kolcraft Exersaucer for him for 3 months!
Much cheaper than buying them and then at least once B has outgrown it you dont have the problem of trying to re-sell it.
You know what K is like, he gets over things real quick too hehe
CrystalBoo - now the mirror idea is a good idea - i havent tried that one yet! thank you!
Leasha - i was going to invest in a bumbo seat a bit later on - but than im thinking they are pretty boring she wont like it - trust me if she is anything like me than, which she is turning out to be than it takes alot to entertain her!! hahaha
Shell - i was wondering if these things could be hired - thank you for that!
Looks like im going to invest in a swing and a exersaucer!!!!
hj1981, some days i did feel exhausted by the end, but now she is crawling she is into heaps more things and will entertain herself for a while and i can go off and do things.
MJ also loved the mirror and still does, she licks herself now, i think it is her version of a kiss...
the other thing to look into is to see if your council has a toy library, you can borrow toys for a week or us to 3 weeks, that way you dont have to fork out the $$ for heaps of toys and you are rotating things she she doesnt get bored... and if there are more expensive things you can try before buying...
