DS was 3.1kg (6ld14oz) and he was in a 0000 mind you I took with us a short & a long sleeved/leg 4x0 and a short & a long sleeved/leg 3x0 cause I didn't know what his size would be or what the weather would be doing in September. It can be pretty hot here or pretty cold. I'd say just throw in something of each size. At the hospital they supplied the bodysuits for the hospital stay and they were all 000 and way too big for our bub. But I guess it's the most average size or they would have some smaller ones kwim. Our DS is 12 weeks old in a couple of days and still fits into a handful of his 4x0 clothes they must be a larger make or something! What we did find though was that it really doesn't matter if the clothes are a big bigger on bub, it's not like they care either and it can be quicker and easier to dress them anyway.

    0000 for DD1 (8lb10 or 3910g) & DS2 (8lb12 / 4010g), 0000 but not for long for DS1 (9lb13 / 4440g) and pretty much straight into 000 for Pie (10lb8 47**g, can't remember )

DD was only a little 4 pounder so she came home in 00000 which swam on her for a few weeks.
DS was 6lb 13 and he came home in 00000s too but was only in most of them 3 weeks because of his length.

DS weighed 8lb8 / 4020g and went straight into 000 (which was a pity because he had received so many 0000 clothes as gifts).

Both my kids were over 10lb or 4.5kg and both fit in most 0000 for a little while, albeit maybe a week lol

Still we only got the odd thing in 0000 as we didn't wanna risk not being able to use them

i had only bought 'newborn' four-nought stuff but my 7lb3 baby (51cm) needed five-noughts so mum had to go buy some for us. but he came home in a lovely four-nought outfit i had picked out months before his birth. I'll be packing 5 and 4 noughts this time round.

DD1 who was just under 6lbs (2.7) wore 00000 for about 3 weeks and then lived in 0000 until she was about 4 months old but she is teeny even now...

DD2 was 7lbs5oz (3.43kg) and was in 0000 for almost 2 months and now (at 3 months) is transitioning into 000.

I would recommend packing some 0000 singlets, but if you are going to go for a bonds wondersuit, go for a 000...those things are sooo tiny lol!

Both went home in 0000 - they were a bit big on DD1 but perfect fit for DD2

    DD1 was 2.9kg (6lb7) and was in 0000 for about 3 months
    DD2 was 3.8kg (8lb6) and was in 0000 for about 6 weeks

00000 for DD and they were a little big, she was 7lb 13 (3.5kg) and 49 cms long. I think it depends on where you get them too. I found that the sizes at Best and Less fit her in accordance to their age to size ratio, where the equivalent size in Target/Kmart is always bigger. As for Pumpkin Patch, she is still wearing things aimed for ages 6 - 12 months and she's 20 months old! She's not little, their stuff is huge!!

Agree 100%! DD was a 0000 but in the hospital I couldn't fit her in the 0000 wondersuit, she wasn't huge either, 3540gms or 7lb 6oz.

Charlotte still has skirt from PP sized 0-3 months - it is ONLY JUST getting too short to wear, and the matching NB sized teeshirt she wore until last summer whenher belly started sticking out of the bottom lol She has just turned 3! Always get a giggle - the skirt has paid for itself 6 times over now!
