In winter it doesn't matter how early or late they sleep I HATE getting up and avoid it at all costs....so I am up at 7.30 each morning or else my head gets jumped on.

In summer I am up at 6am on my own and I usually LOVE the quiet of the house, the chance to shower and get dressed on my own and I'm set for the day by 8am. Yahoo, I love it. I just wanna hibernate in winter....

DS woke up at 4.30am until he was 4 years old. Now he still gets up before the rest of us (usually between 6 and 6.30) but now he's five he likes to make his own brekky and potter around a bit until we get up (usually 6.45am - 7am). I'm definately not a morning person, and have always had to fight the alarm clock to get to work on time (pre-kids) and then had to fight my bad attitude when my gorgeous boy did the "rise and shine" thing a few hours before dawn. Now I still have to get up by 7am at the latest to get the kids to school, or get to work.

Im so glad you started this thread too!

My DS has just recently started waking at 4am. I put him into bed with me and then he'll wake again at 5.30am which is when he has his bottle. Then he'll go back to sleep in bed with me til about 8am.

I was feeling bad about making him go back to sleep after that first bottle, so its nice to see im not alone! Hopefully soon the 5.30am bottle will become later and later in the morning

    Thanks for the thread fiona

We went through a period of 5-5.30 wake ups.
DS is in one of those at the moment Biggest problem with it (apart from being up too early) is he is ready for a nap when I take DD to school.....at least he is sleeping through th e night again

Im not a morning person either... regardless if I had 3 hrs sleep or 9 hrs sleep. Im fine as long as I wake myself which dosnt happen very often with a toddler.

DD goes to bed at 8 (sometimes 7.30 if she is really tired) and wakes anywhere from 7.30-8.30.

If she wakes before this its cause she wants a drink which I give her and she goes back to sleep.

There have been times where I have had to wake her at 10am but thats been quite rare.

Luckily in the morning she likes to sit on her lounge or beside me, have her brekkie and watch Dora etc for 2 hrs then goes back to bed for 2hrs.

Without fail she is wanting to go back to bed 2 hrs after getting up for her day nap, sleeps for 2hrs (if longer I wake her) then stays up till bed time.

In her nap time I have been going back to sleep aswell as I sit up till at least 1am and have been having trouble sleeping with bubs moving around most of the night... not that I should be getting used to that LOL

Here's the sad part for me. It's not the baby so much that gets me up early. It's Tehya. She wakes every morning early. Some mornings she even ends up in DP's morning shower, at 5.30 !!

Today she woke at 4.50 and has been awake since. She has pre school today and they don't do naps so she is going to be exhausted when I pick her up.

Mmm might get a nap out of her when she comes home.

Abbey decided to join Tehya this morning and she's up early too.

Generally, Emily wakes up at 6am to be nursed, and I nurse her in bed. DH gets up at 6:30, and I generally get up a few minutes later - 6:45, or so. That's when the other two girls usually get up - they hear him and want to say good bye! Usually, we're all up and at 'em by 7:00 - when DH leaves for work.

I quite often doze in my bed while ds lies next to me and looks at his hands (his current favorite activity) I try and tell myself it's good for him... some chill out time to start the day in a peaceful way

I think I have my DD trained quite well!!

She goes to bed between 7-7:30 most nights (sometimes a bit closer to 8, but its fairly rare), usually sleeps through the night (just cries for us if she has lost her dummy over the side of the cot - she usually just finds it again somewhere in the cot with her, and puts it back in herself, but gets upset if ifs on the floor and can't find it, but as soon as we get it, she is happy to go to sleep again. I think she actually spends most of the night without it, but if she wakes up, she likes it to go to sleep again, and then it falls out about 2 minutes after she is asleep again, and it doesn't bother her at all), and then usually wakes up sometime after 7:30. However, she has been even better lately and sleeping until 9:30 for the last fortnight! YAY!!! I love sleep ins!!!

When I'm not working, I do what you do, but I'm worse because my DD gets up at the quite decent hour of 7am so that makes ME extra slack for being lazy at that time of day

I'm not/never have been a morning person either. I was one of those ppl that need their 10 hours to feel fully rested. But it's amazing what the human body can get used to . We're lucky in that DD started sleeping through at 5 months..which is about when I stopped breastfeeding actually. She goes from 7pm to 7am with nary a peep in between unless she's teething. Was v.glad not to have to do the waking up 3 times a night and then up early for workdays.

As for me, I give her a bottle to start off the morning as I am zombie until I've had my coffee and I'll watch the morning breakfast shows for a bit and have my own brekkie. Then she'll have her cereal an hour later or whatnot after she's had a little play. When I'm at home, I'll nap when she naps If I need it. It was hard but I've learned to ignore a messy house!

My DS wakes anywhere from 7 to 8.30am. Which isn't too bad. I change his nappy and we read a book and he has floor time, or if he has a bad night we just lay in bed for about an hour and talk and he plays with his teddy.
